Conference 2026

MARCH 2-3 + HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC

Join us March 2-3, 2026 at Providence Presbyterian Church in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for Presbyterians for the Kingdom inaugural conference!

​

The conference theme is “For the Kingdom”, and over the course of our time together we will explore and articulate what we mean to be for the kingdom through our core values of Holiness, Orthodoxy, Perseverance, and Evangelism—for through H.O.P.E., the Spirit continues to sanctify and strengthen the Church, calling her back to faithfulness and forward into mission.

The conference will begin around noon on the 2nd and be held in joint with the 2026 Theology Matters Conference 

(Mar 3-5), we highly encourage you to attend there also!

Opening Worship

Rev. James Cubie

The Rev. James F. Cubie is the Pastor and Head of Staff at Mattituck Presbyterian Church, on Long Island.

 

He and his wife have two children, and this Summer will celebrate twenty years of marriage.

 

Rev. Cubie serves on the board of Theology Matters, and loves the practical theology of John Calvin.

Closing Worship

Rev. David Kling

The Rev. David Kling is the Senior Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian in Huntsville, Alabama, where he has served for 9 years. David brings a diverse skillset to ministry that combines a passion for evangelism with an expertise in strategic leadership learned in the business world. He is the fourth generation in his family to serve as a PC(USA) pastor.

 

David’s first career was as an investment banker on Wall Street, where he helped bring billions of dollars in corporate bonds to market for Fortune 500 companies.

 

David holds a Masters in Divinity from Princeton Seminary and a Masters in Finance from The University of Florida and an undergraduate degree in Economics / Mathematics from New College of Florida. His wife, Alison, is the executive director of a non-profit, Free-2-Teach, and they have 4 beautiful children ages 2 through 9.

Rev. Sara Jane Nixon

The Rev. Sara Nixon is Pastor of Crestview Presbyterian Church, where she has served in various roles since 2022.

 

Sara Jane is an alumna of Davidson College and Princeton Seminary, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Ministry degree at Dubuque Theological Seminary

Orthodoxy

Rev. Dr. Richard Burnett

The Rev. Dr. Richard Burnett is Executive Director of the Foundation for Reformed Theology and the Managing Editor of Theology Matters. Having served as Professor of Systematic Theology at Erskine Theological Seminary for fourteen years, he now teaches at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and is the co-director of the Master of Arts in Reformed Theology Program.

 

He is a graduate of King College (A.B.), Yale University Divinity School (S.T.M.), and Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div., Ph.D.). He has been a minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) for 36 years, and has served churches in Tennessee, New Jersey, North and South Carolina.

 

He has authored and edited several books, including Karl Barth’s Theological Exegesis, A Cry of Need and of Joy: Confessing the Faith in a New Millennium, The Westminster Handbook to Karl Barth, and Machen’s Hope: The Transformation of a Modernist in the New Princeton.

 

He and his wife, Martha, have four children and four grandchildren.

Perseverance

Rev. Dr. Douglas K. Feltcher

The Rev. Dr. Doug Fletcher was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa and is a retired PC(USA) Pastor of 37 years, serving congregations in Tulsa, OK, Austin, TX, and Hilton Head Island, SC.

 

He received a Bachelor of Arts from Drake University, and a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy from Princeton Theological Seminary.

 

Doug has taught at seminaries in Tulsa and Austin, in addition to lecturing at Justo Mwale University in Lusaka, Zambia. He is also part of the Lilly Foundation’s Pastor-Theologian program and author of The Only Prayer You’ll Ever Need: Unleashing Your Best Life.

 

He and his wife Wesla Liao Fletcher, an Organizational Psychologist and former Methodist Minister, have two sons, Matthew and Samuel, and three grandchildren.

 

Doug also went to bullfighting school in Toledo, Spain—ask him about it!

Evangelism

Rev. Dr. Raymond I. Hylton

The Rev. Dr. Ray Hylton came to The National Presbyterian Church in June 2023 after serving as the senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Evanston, Illinois, his call since 2009. Previously, he served churches in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and New Castle, Pennsylvania.

​

His service in a university town—Evanston is the home of Northwestern University—has given him extensive experience partnering for engagement with students and young adults. His strategies for deepening and connecting pathways of discipleship and for leading a multi-generational church are exciting to the NPC community. In his own words, “My greatest joy is inviting people into God’s kingdom and helping people to discover God’s unique plan for their lives.”

​

Dr. Hylton is a devoted family man, happily married to his childhood sweetheart, whom he met in their native Jamaica. Judith is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and a former educator, having taught high school biology, chemistry, and physics for ten years. Judith is the author of the book The Faith of the Pastor’s Wife: Surviving in Ministry Yet Remaining in Love with God and His People. She and Ray together are the authors of a book on Christian marriage, Five Disciplines of a Growing Marriage: Falling in Love Again. They are the grateful parents of three adult children: Judene, Ray Jr., and Joel.
