Our Story

Beginnings

Though our specific organization was founded very recently, there has been a suppressed voice for many generations of PC(USA) laypeople, elders, and ministers praying for the denomination to return to Scripture.

There have been several organizations that attempted renewal in the past, but most of them ended up splitting from the denomination, severing themselves from the Presbyterian heritage.

What makes our organization unique is a firm and unconditional commitment to remaining in the PC(USA), whether our goals are met or not. Though our movement has always included people of many generations, it arose from Generation Z Presbyterians who long for heritage, tradition, and theological depth.

The non-profit Presbyterians for the Kingdom started in late 2023 out of an online community of young men and women dedicated to restoring Mainline Protestant denominations to biblical values. On October 31, 2023—Reformation Day—faithful Presbyterians sent out “95 Theses” to many churches in the PC(USA), calling for reform in the denomination. We received many responses to our Theses, including messages from dozens of PC(USA) ministers and elders saying they were very encouraged by our new movement and had been praying for something like it for a long time.

Over the course of 2024, we started building connections in the PC(USA): having PC(USA) pastors join our organization, attending PC(USA) presbytery meetings and conferences, and supporting traditionally minded PC(USA) churches by adding them to our custom church map. We used our wide social media outreach to promote these churches, and we created short, simple theology video content on our website to educate new members of the PC(USA) in Presbyterian doctrine. We sent representatives to the 2024 General Assembly, in which our president, David Yancey, helped add qualifiers to the Olympia Overture that made provisions for conservatives to remain in the denomination in good standing.

At the end of 2024, we formed an official collaboration with Theology Matters, an organization of traditional PC(USA) ministers and seminary professors dedicated to training the next generation of pastors in our denomination. In 2025, we attended conservative PC(USA) conferences as exhibitors and met many individual pastors of influential conservative PC(USA) churches who expressed a great interest in working with us. It was through these interactions that we gained our first official PftK-affiliated church, Covenant Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, AL.

Right now, our two main projects are organizing a PftK conference in Hilton Head Island, SC, this spring and preparing to combat progressive overreach at General Assembly 2026.
